Polly Ambulate- Pulp Adventuress
The quasi-superhero, Polly Ambulate, finally joins the 1930s era Prolix Associates pulp group (but it's a little more complicated than that). Young Polly was adopted off the streets of San Francisco by the enigmatic John Prolix. Polly and Metal Molly grew up together as virtual sisters in Prolix' care. Whereas Molly was more bookish, Polly was almost addicted to physical dangers. As Polly grew, it became clearer that she was considerably resistant to injuries and illnesses.
By the 1930s, Polly was one of the associate leaders of several Prolix expeditions around the world to deal with strange phenomena. In the late 30s, she led a small expedition to Central America that led to her disappearance for over 60 years, but that's a different story for another time.
The figure is from West Wind's Weird War 2 line of miniatures, Liberty. But it seems to be a variant of the currently available figure (she has two machine guns on their website). I like this version more. I think I picked her up at a booth at GenCon a very long time ago, but didn't get her ready for painting until very recently because I didn't know what I wanted to do with her.
I thought about making her shirt with some kind of design, like stripes or a star or something. But I decided on the red because it looked pretty good.
Her leather jacket was simply layers of darker to lighter browns. The furry bits turned out pretty nice with a couple layers fo different cream/off-white with a dark wash. It looks comfy.
Here we have Polly with some of the other Prolix 1930s characters completed so far.
