Observer - Trench Crusade
This is probably the figure that got me to go in on the first Trench Crusade Kickstarter. The art was so cool. It conjured up memories of these guards from the Sorcery! adventure game books from my youth. I remember they had a helmet that allowed them to see really far (maybe some other magical abilities too) and while the Observer looks nothing like that artwork, it still reminds me of those guys. Plus, the head of the Observer looks sort of like an Imperial probe droid from Empire Strikes Back.
I had pondered swapping out the spear because it seemed like it might be too delicate and might snap off. But it's actually very flexible, so it stayed.
The paint scheme was pretty basic- silver with some patches of rust for the armor, a blue-gray for the cape with some faded crosses, and a rose gold for the chainmail. Then a couple of washes and touch ups to make him dirty enough and he was done. I think he turned out pretty nicely.
Here we have the Observer with the rest of the finished Trench Crusade figures (except for the Artillery Witch). He fits.
Above, we have the Observer with the usual size comparison figures. Below, I thought that the Observer looked like he might fit nicely with the techno-feudal monster hunters, and it looks like he might.
