Sump Elemental
Originally painted as a treeman back in 2014 (?!?), I've wanted to do something more (or, better) with him ever since. I got the idea that he should be put onto a round base rather than the weird rectangular 25x35mm I originally chose. It was only very recently that I took him off the new round base and put him on an underhive-style base. I figured he could be painted as some sort of rogue machine spirit (or sump elemental, or wiring demon, or...). Thus it came to pass. Now he's done and ready to take his place as a possible member of Honeysuckle's Circuit Mashyne techno-fae warband.
The well-defined ridges of bark are what prompted me to think "maybe those could be painted as different colored cables" and I gave it a shot. At first, he was going to get some additional cables sticking out, but I decided it would be fine as it was. I painted directly over the original paintjob and I think it turned out okay.
When he was almost done, I noticed a resemblance to Warlock of the New Mutants. I searched for a large round bit to stick on one of his eyes to be the one big eye that Warlock often had in the comics. Sadly, I couldn't find a piece that I liked so he remained as is.
Now he's ready to possibly be a member of the Circuit Mashyne, we'll have to see how he fits in with the other minis of that warband who have been waiting for their paint.
