R5-J1 for May the Fourth

I was going to paint dome rebel troopers over the weekend, but something else took that slot based on whims. So, on the morning of the 4th, I decided to dig out this Star Wars Legion* R5 unit.

I wanted to use my favorite aqua blue color on this droid and so I did. But first, I did a couple of lighter grey drybrushing layers. 

Next, I used a darker shade of the aqua blue. Then the brighter version went on top. I chose some random other colors for little details around R5's body.

Finally, a dark wash and then some touchups on the colorful parts. His base was a series of darker greys and browns with a wash on top. Then I broke out some grey pigment powder to make it a little more interesting.

R5-J1 is now ready to join my slowly growing Star Wars miniatures horde.

with Tebic and Nightsun, perhaps R5 will be part of their crew

with Sabine Wren, Chopper, and Hera Syndulla from Imperial Assualt
