Dino-Chicken Monsters- Grishak from Anyaral
Another one of the endless series of "I finally painted ___ after X number of years" posts. From one of the "Anyaral, The World of Twilight" Kickstarters, these are a small portion of the herd (flock?) of these dinosaur/chicken monsters I've been itching to paint. I chose 3 of them to see as a paint scheme and basing test before jumping in with both feet.
The look of these minis drew me to them during the Kickstarter. I love how they're kind of familiar, but not really. I removed their slotta tabs and pinned them to laser-cut MDF bases because I'm not a fan of the official bases (those rounded edge kind). Some homemade texture paste (equal parts rough basing sand and baking soda with some tacky glue, water, and sometimes matte medium) gave the bases some texture.
Choosing a color was the toughest part. Even after I decided to go with orange I still wasn't sure it would look good. Once I was locked in on the orange, blue became the obvious choice for the spikes. These three were basically quick and dirty paintjobs, but I think they came out okay.
These minis are great and I like how they turned out. I have rules for Anyaral, but not much painted up. So what will these beasties be used for? All sorts of things. They could be used in fantasy and sci-fi games as random encounters or even farm animals! I want to prepare a few more to paint once I get a little more room in the painting queue.
