SCARAB Project- Long-awaited Finale

This was actually completed a very long time ago (back in 2011?!) For some reason I never got around to getting pictures of it at the time. I came across the SCARAB a few days ago and decided it needed a little work on the paintjob as well as permanent attachment to the flight stand. But first, here are the first 3 parts of the build process:

Part 1                     Part 2                       Part 3

Before gluing the flightstand I had to get the mechandendrites reattached and repositioned. Their addition was meant to show how this SCARAB was a rogue/rebel from the main swarm and it had to rearm and refuel itself mostly on it's own. These twisted wires were simply held in place with some very olde poster-tac so some repositioning and several attempts at gluing took place.

The base got a little bit of a repaint to make it look better to my modern eye. Then the touched up SCARAB was glued onto the flight stand and left to dry.

For the touchup on the SCARAB itself, I gave a couple of new coats of lighter blues to simulate the wear and tear on the hull. Then I got a metallic paint and did some chipping effects with a sponge. Some black paint near some of the metallic areas finished the effect.

Even though it's been "done" for over a decade the SCARAB wasn't really used in any gaming. Now that should change, hopefully. Above and Below we see how the SCARAB sizes up with various Antares figures- I'm not saying it might stand in for an Antares vehicle but I'm not saying it couldn't.

Above we've got the usual Primaris Marine, Victoria Highlander, and Raging Heroes Jailbird. And below we have the tresh-bashed Felopian Orbital Defender with the SCARAB, the Defender was created much more recently but I think it took some design ideas from the SCARAB.
