1st Batch of Victoria Miniatures Challenge - Part 2
The first finished batch of 5 minis in my personal challenge to finish the mass of Victoria Miniatures troopers. A coupe of these were partially painted already, but the other 3 were only primed. They were all rather quick and dirty to get them done and looking passable for the moment. There may be additional work on them sometime in the future (squad markings, etc). I do not have any specific use for any of these minis planned out, I just love to paint miniatures, especially those that are as aesthetically pleasing as the Victoria stuff. That said, there is a blue-theme with some red accents that has been around since the first couple troopers I randomly painted.
I thought this guy would be a starship captain on the ground for some reason. His outfit is the most different from the previous "regular" troopers, but it sort of rhymes with them.
Next is a dashing trooper with his hair flowing slightly in the wind. He's got an Eldar head because I wanted t make a variety of troopers and it looked like it would be a good fit. Once I build more troopers, I'll need to see what other Eldar heads I've got that ight look good. During the painting, I took to calling him "Dirk."
This sniper figure, 'the Baroness,' got a metal sniper rifle from an old Warzone weapons pack and a resin head from a Raging Heroes figure. She is part of Olde Quinzell's veterans team. She turned out okay, I guess.
The first of two Desert Scorpion figures (they're the test models for the rest), this one is a standard build with a bolter added in place of the lasgun. It was a little more than simply cutting the lasgun away, I used the stock and part of the area where the left hand was holding the barrel. It looks a little weird if you look too closely at it, but I usually like it when figures are a little out of the ordinary.
And the final figure in this batch is a mishmash of a Desert Scorpion body and head (they come connected), some plastic Eastern European company's armored legs, Eisenkern arms, and a heavy weapon from the Valkir figures. This guy was built a few weeks ago in a mad fury of sifting through a baggie with a jumble of bits. I started out trying to see how the large Valkir weapons with in the Eisenkern arms. It spiraled into Faizul, a cyborg Desert Scorpion. The only thing I don't really like about him is the texture on his base. I went a little overboard with superglue and flock instead of mixing up my usual texture paste. Other than that, I like how he's taller than everyone else and I'm still in awe of how the Eisenkern arms fit on the Victoria bodies.
What's next in the march to finishing up all the unpainted Victoria minis before year's end? Probably some Penal Legion guys. But let's take a look at how these guys fit with some of the previously painted troopers.
