Two Minor Bakka Dragons
From the disappointing Drake the Dragon Wargame' Kickstarter, a couple of the very few miniatures that were shipped. I had high hopes for these two minis, but the details were much softer than I originally thought. Even so, they turned out okay.
I wanted to add more painted dragons to my collection (as part of the informal Bakka/Space Dragons project) so I assembled both of these a couple years ago. They sat primed, taking up space on the painting table because once they were primed, I realized they weren't as cool as I had originally thought. Finally, I forced myself to finish them to cleanse the painting table of their presence.
This first guy is Rasbakka, a minor Bakka with subtle psychic abilities known as a trickster. He usually tricks people into letting him eat them.
The figure reminded me a lot of Sauron from Marvel comics, so that was the start of my color choice. When I realized the lack of detail, I decided he needed some random markings on the skin with a darker yellow-brown.
This second guy was actually the first assembled and based, so he sat untouched the longest. I was glad to get him assembled (wings and tail needed to be pinned, which was a chore, the casting wasn't great for the tail to join up to the body) but disappointed when I got a good look at him. He is Ghirraka of the Winds. Just a simple fang and claw tye with very limited fire breath.
After going green for Rasbakka, I decided maybe blue for would work. I layered up lighter blues until I finally decided to try a really light drybrushing. It turned out passable, I guess.
Above, these minor Bakka with the usual size comparison team. Below, we've got the lesser Bakka from last year with these minor Bakka, they are tiny compared to the real thing.
