Servoskull Bird

I like to make weird servoskulls. That's why I try to take part in the #servoskullsaturday event on Instagram. The first Saturday of each month is when it's supposed to happen, but I don't always get something made on that day. Coming up with something different than I've done before is a challenge that I think helps me keep my kitbashing/converting skills sharp.

This was my build from June of 2025- a skullbird. When I was getting the parts together, I did not realize that it was inspired by the weird MC Escher bird with a human head figure in some of his drawings. My mom was huge Escher fan and several framed prints. One of these was Another World II that is definitely the main inspiration for this skullbird.

I had a plastic Warhammer High Elf bird that had an odd long thin head. I'd been saving it for something forever. The skull is another of my seemingly endless supply of resin skulls from a couple different Kickstarters. I used a bit of sprue for the cyber eye and it needed a little something on the back of the skull, part of a model kit bomb or missile looked right. The base was from a Kickstarter, I had been trying to figure out what miniature could nicely fit on the mix of pipes- the skullbird seemed like the best option for it.

For not currently having a painting setup at the moment or great lighting, I think it turned out pretty good.

Above, we've got an Antares Freeborn plastic figure and a Monkey Miniatures guy. Below, we've got a metal trenchcoat ganger from Heresy Miniatures and a GW Primaris Marine.
