Omen Tide Cultists by the Sea

I like to convert minis in new and interesting ways. When I saw some stuff on Instagram about this cool new skirmish game about wretched seaside cultists worshipping a dead god and fighting with other cultists, I had to do something about it.

While I was gathering bits and working on other miniatures, I had way too much leftover greenstuff that I needed to do something with. Since I had sea-related ideas bouncing around. I came up with the idea of a big shell with something inside it. So this sculpt took shape. It's not great, but it's kind of weird.

First up is this guy based on a Perry Miniatures Zulu body. His head came from Spellcrow. The right arm is  GW Skink arm (reminiscent of the shark-tooth swords of the Pacific), the left arm was from a Wrath of Kings figure. He got finished off with a couple of tiny shells I've had for 20 years or more and some tiny sand to act as some barnacles (and sneakily cover some gaps).

Next is a Wrath of Kings figure with a headswap from an old GW figure. His spear has the weird little thing on the top that sort of looked like a candle. One of the cults in Omen Tide has something to do with candles, so I moved the tip of the newly christened candle so it looked more like a candle flame. 'Barnacles' helped cover any gaps and added the crusty look I wanted.

Finally, once I found my stash of these big ladies from Wrath of Kings, the last member of this batch of seaside cultists was made. Her head is an old Void 1.1 plastic Junkers helmet with a couple of large slashes in the back to show it was scavenged from the shore. I cut up her sword so it wasn't as impressive. Her left arm is a Genestealer Hybrid arm with the hand removed so a more normal hand could be creepy sticking out of the chitinous arm. There was a dryad root part that looked like some tentacles that was placed strategically. I also found a plastic Dark Eldar hook and chain that seemed like it would be useful. She also got the barnacle treatment and a shell.

The painting process used a pretty limited palette because I wanted to push myself a little. Is it Blanchitsu? I don't know. Maybe a little. I like how they all turned out. I need to make some more seaside weirdos and some beach terrain now...
