Dark Legion Resurgence- Ilian Templars Rebased

In the late 90s I was a big fan of the Dark Legion from the Warzone miniatures game. Sci-Fi undead and monsters in the Dark Legion were done with some pretty cool miniatures for the game. One of my favorite factions of the Legion was the Templars of Ilian (Mistress of the Void). A few years ago (2013?!) I decided it was time to rebase some of the passable painted minis with something better than the giant brown flock I chose back in the olden days.

Although I had a "plan" to rebase the Dark Legion I didn't know how I would do it. I started looking at various sources of scenic bases but they would all be pretty pricey to use for 100+ miniatures. It was a pleasant surprise when the CMON/MicroArt Studios Kickstarter for their plastic scenic bases came out.

I got two styles of bases to use for the rebasing of the Dark Legion.  The Chaos Wastes bases will be for the Algeroth minis (some have been started but they were rebased before the painting), and the Possessed bases for the Ilian minis.
These Possessed bases have tentacles and eyeballs across rocky ground.  Above is the early stage of painting before a dark wash and highlights. I decided to paint these bases before putting the already painted figures onto them. If the miniatures had not been painted already I probably would have simply painted the figures and bases together.

Above are two smaller Templars from the Mutant Chronicles RPG line of minis from before Warzone came out.
Above and below are the bulk of my Templars. These are  all from Heartbreaker Games for the 1st Edition of Warzone.

Above are the 2nd Edition Templars. I like the capes and would like to get some more of these turn of the century poses to paint up now.

Below are two of the Grand Templars, on the left from 2nd Edition and the right from 1st Edition.

Above is the Void Cannon specialist from 2nd Edition. Below is a converted 40k Sister of Battle to give the Templars even more diversity of sculpts.

Always one of my favorite minis from Warzone, while the Immaculate Fury wasn't part of the Ilian Dark Legion forces, for my purposes it's getting the Possessed style of base.

There are some other Ilian figures I've got that need to be rebased (mainly lots of tiny Children of Ilian) the next batch will likely be some Algeroth minis that were started before the Templars but have managed to avoid attention from the brush.
