Earth Elemental, NOT Badrock
After a decade or so of languishing in various stages of paint, this big rock monster is finally finished. He was started soon after the first Reaper Bones Kickstarter arrived at my door. I was not sure the best way to paint it, or what colors to use. The epic Cthulhu miniature from that Kickstarter was painted long before this guy. I recently vowed to try to paint up at least a portion of the prepared and partially painted minis in various containers.
I think when he was primed, he was on a different base. Sometime later, I found the current base for him (60mm).
I started out painting some of the individual rocks. That got pretty tedious and was likely the main reason he wasn't finished before now. When I picked him up again in the past week or so, I decided to go for quick and dirty by picking out some of the specific rocks with a variety of different browns and greys.
Then came the washes. After they dried I focused some dry brushing on specific areas to help make the different rock colors pop. It was really only over this past weekend that I did all this painting and washing. I vowed that there would be harsh consequences. Thankfully I avoided whatever vicious punishment I had in store for myself.
To show how big Badrock the Earth Elemental is we have a GW Primaris Marine and a BTGOA Freeborn Domari.
