Victoria Miniatures Personal Challenge
A few years ago I went on a building spree of Victoria Miniatures bits. This resulted in 27 figures (counting the heavy weapon team as 1 figure) needing to be painted. Then they sat on the painting table and eventually in a box. I recently decided this mass of figures must be completed before the end of 2024. Why? Because I really like them and want to see them done. And also, so I can build even more of Victoria figures in good conscience. I've got bits for more Desert Troopers and female troopers and other things that are calling to me. The recent kitbashes for Trench Crusade probably had something to do with this push.
The main bulk of these figures are 10 Penal Troopers. Since I first saw the mention of Penal Troopers in an ancient White Dwarf, I wanted some. I never saw the figures in person at any shops at the time. When Victoria released the Penal unit bits I got some right away. These and the excellent Beastmen from Victoria (I got some of the metal versions of them) were maybe part of my first order to Victoria Miniatures. These Penal Troopers have additional bits from old GW kits and various other sources from my bits box.
Then we have some Desert Scorpions that include some interesting kitbashes to add more character to a couple of them. The rocket launcher team, I think, was from a scrapper bag, but not so bad they weren't fixable. I'm curious what I'll do with the paint scheme on the guys with cyberlegs.
Next are a trio of Highlanders. I think these were also from my first order because kilts are cool. I'm not too psyched to do the tartan pattern on them, but I must.
Just bland normal Troopers? Yes, and a rocket launcher weapon team. This came about as a use for a couple kneeling leg sets that I'm not a huge fan of. I took it as a challenge to see if I could do something with them that I didn't hate. I don't hate this. The rocket launcher is from Maxmini, I got several one year at GenCon and they are slowly being used.
Finally, we have 3 character types to join in Olde Quinzell's veteran unit. A lot of Mechanicus bits on the two guys. The sniper rifle is metal from an ancient Warzone weapons pack.
And that's it. I just need to focus my painting on all these and finish them by January 1 or there will be consequences. I will melt down all the unbilt Victoria bits if I don't get these done by the deadline...probably not, but it sounds motivational.
