Axolotl Smythe Cosmic Archeologist

Axolotl squinted at the ancient scroll trying to remember his ancient Shamunniak. "...is that 'forest of blades'?" There was a mechanical whirr as Axolotl's researchbot, SOCR8, moved its optic to get a better view of the scroll.

"That is one interpretation of those symbols, from a rather pedestrian translation. A more informed translation would be 'hall of quivering razor leaves' as mentioned in scroll 216 of the Belle-Raake expedition archive. It refers to a construct similar to a garbage disposal unit that was the entrance tunnel to the burial chamber of the Great Munnia."

Axolotl sighed and began rolling the scroll. "Great. Come on girls! Time for some danger..."

First up are the girls, Ana and Uma. I did similar conversions to a Mantic bulldog quite some time ago. I still had a few left and decided Axolotl needed some company. One didn't seem like enough. I tried to make them a little different from each other with more than the colors.

I've wanted to do a random sci-fi adventurer with the Stargrave bits for a long while. Early in December, I used a Perry Miniatures Aztec head with a hat that made me think of Mobius drawings. I got the backpack bot from a Mecahanicus bit trimmed down. His scroll was made with a length of wire and some masking tape cut to size and rolled around the wire. To get the arm positions right, I needed to modify the Stargrave kit arms. So the hands were cut off and repositioned to more useful positions.

Here we've got a size comparison of Axolotl with the usual suspects- Victoria Miniatures Highlander, Primaris Marine, and Raging Heroes Jailbird.

Above we've got a few other Stargrave (and the "Gundalf" kitbash)  conversions with Axolotl and the girls. Below with some random Antares figures.
