Grimdark Cards 2025 Challenge - Kitbashed Servitor

There was a post that I stumbled across while looking through various INQ28 content for inspiration that caught my attention. I had been building some more of the Stargrave Automatons and was hoping to build something else. So I sent the message and got a card draw that limited what I would build, the main part would be sourcing materials from my bits boxes.

The claw reminded me of an arm from the Automaton kit, but it wasn't quite right. I used part of another arm and used plastic glue to bond the bits together.

The left arm reminded me of another arm from the kit. Eventually it would need some filler to join to the body. Speaking of which, the body that I first thought of was from the old Wargames Factory Amazons kit. Sure the card is probably a male torso, but the Amazon torso matched it best in my mind.

For the 'legs' I dipped into the Victoria miniatures scrappers bits for one of the Astral Witches with minor casting issues. I didn't feel bad about snipping one in half since I've painted her at least twice. The head is another part from the Automatons kit.

The cable from her head was a plastic bit from some GW kit and the generator thing on her back is a 3D printed bit. Then came the servoskull. I wanted it to be up high but the limitations of the materials, though I like how it's connected to the base. And speaking about the base, the servoskull forced me to actually choose a base for her. I think it's a 28mm hex base so she will be part of the ever-growing not-Mechanicus warband. This basing led to a short sidetrack gathering the beginnings of another small group of not-Mechanicus guys. They were both rebased and the Techpriest got some new arms- but more on them when they're finished.

Then came the hoos and some gap filling. My scupting abilities are rough but passable, so it wasn't too much of a chore to sculpt a food. The sculpting is fine.

For painting, i tried to limit the paints to a Zorn pallet, with a couple of metallic paints. Lots of mixing of paints on my newly created tiny (in a little 3.5x35 inch container) wet pallet.

The Mechanicus cog on the source material's chest was something I wanted to get, but I could not find a properly sized bit. Instead, her loincloths got a hint of the cog. I think the colors worked out well and she's suitably grimdark, maybe.

Finally, we have a size comparison with the Raging Heroes Jailbird and the GW Primaris Marine.
