Tech Bazaar 24 - More Wrecks and a New Tech Tower
It turns out I actually had one more set of the Warmachine wreck markers left as well as a couple of the crashed drones from Oathsworn Miniatures big robot Kickstarter. Since I had not been making much progress on other painting recently, I decided some scrap heaps might help me back into the painting light. A cobbled together random "tech tower" caught my eye and it got a quick and dirty paintjob to get it finished to help add to the clutter of the Tech Bazaar.
This latest 'tech tower' is a collection of various bits of junk glued together to provide some blocking terrain. I've made many of these with varied designs, they are pretty easy to make and paint to look presentable. This one (starting from the ground) starts with an inverted juice (or milk) cap with a tube of some kind pretty sure it was some thick cardboard). The top is a weird square pill bottle with lengths of sprue glued on to break up the flat surfaces. On the top is part of an old gift card covering most of the indented area on the bottom of the pill bottle so figures can safely stand there. most of it was given a coat of texture paste to give a little grittiness to the otherwise smooth surfaces and then I just slapped some paints on and did some drybrushing and weathering to get an okay look.
I'm slowly completing the miniatures from the Oathsworn Rogue Trader-like battle robot Kickstarter. I think there's one of the big robots left and one of the little tank drones (sadly the weapon on it was broken but that leaves an opportunity to do some kitbashing. These two wrecked drones were the only resin pieces from that Kickstarter.. I placed each on 30mm bases and built up some texture paste to help hide the edge of the resin base. The paintjobs were pretty simple but came out nice.
This batch of wrecked mechs is the same as a previous batch. A local game shop had several blister packs marked down significantly. Over the course of a few months I picked up the last few packs they had because at that price I couldn't afford NOT to get them. Since I've painted these designs at least once before, I wanted to change it up with different colors.
I should've done one in red, but decided to keep these more muted because terrain should usually not stand out too much. Of course, one of the smaller wrecks has the main armor areas as off-white an the larger one was a light blue-grey. For quicker paintjobs relying more on dark washes and weathering, I think they turned out pretty good.
Here we have what might be the total population of warjack wrecks, 13 in all (plus the 2 drone wrecks). They should provide some good rough terrain/possible treasure for part of the Tech Bazaar. Below are a few folks looking for some useful salvage.
So what's next for the Tech Bazaar's growth? I hope to set up everything to help me decide what may be needed to help make the Tech Bazaar more complete (it will never be complete! I forbid it!). I had hoped to do that in 2024, but it never came to pass. I do have a few partially painted buildings from the Deadzone plastic terrain set, but those have been restarted too often to count.
