Urban Dance Shefdu - Crisis of Infinite Shefdus 9
"...The City of Madness contained threats down every alley, around every corner, often even from every crack in the pavement. Sootootma, encased in his improbable cybernetic armor suit of unknown origin, it was on him when he awoke in the City, took up the task of ending the horrendous reign of the so-called 'Obertyranta' and her various unhinged followers. Then there was the presence of his unlikely and psychopathic ally, the unnamed frog..."
From the 'Scroll of The Tempestuous Conurbation' comes the 'Urban Dance Shefdu.' It started as simply my codename for this simple conversion, but I decided I liked it too much to find an alternative. When I came across the Transformers mini that makes up the bulk of this Shefdu, there was an Urban Dance Squad song stuck in my head (it's been in the background of my thoughts the past 11 years or so).
The deeper origins of a Tethru in power armor reach back to a goofy April Fools joke on the old Crocodile Games forum. I took a Tethru head and stuck it into the mouth of one of the Sebeki with a gaping maw. Thus the concept was born. It stayed with me until I stumbled across the cheap Soundwave miniature. Now he's finally come together with a base and little frog (because why not?).
The arms were both removed and reposed slightly. The left arm (and the pointer finger) got the most movement. Both forearms got some plastic bits added just to make it a little different from the original look. The rocket pod on his right shoulder was removed and placed on the back.
I was never really happy with the large blank area of his chest. Partway through painting, I added the cables from his chest to his back. I wanted the weird pose of the left arm and hand to make some sort of sense, so he's adjusting one of the cables for some reason. Then the torn scrolls were added after all the painting was done.
Then there's the base. It's a resin base I got in a bagful of rejects at Adepticon 2022. In a bout of madness I decided to magnetize the connection. Eventually everything lined up correctly and Shefdu fits snugly. The lil' frog is an old Ral Partha bit that I thought would make a fun addition to the base. Once Shefdu was fully painted, I decided superglue WITH magnets was the best way to keep him firmly on the base.
Here we have Urban Dance Shefdu with the usual size comparison team- a Primaris Marine and Raging Heroes Jailbird. Below, a Ghar Battlesuit is dwarfed by Urban Dance Shefdu.
And here we have the Urban Dance Shefdu with the ever-growing throng of Shefdus (except for the Dark Harbinger version).
What strange alternate reality Shefdu will pop up next? Funny you should ask. It will most probably be one of these two (I just realized they're both based on Warmachine/Iron Kingdoms minis):
