Project Servitor - 01 First Batch of Stargrave Automatons

I've held off getting a box of the Stargrave Automatons since they came out a few months ago. I really wanted them for so long, then I saw them slightly discounted with free shipping and could no longer resist.

Project Servitor has technically been around for at least a decade, if it includes previous kitbashes I've done to make menial cyborg laborers in a grim darkish style. I've used all kinds of metal and plastic figures (and probably some resin bits) to make servitors in the past. With this great multi-part plastic kit available the whole enterprise has gotten more official in my mind.

The box comes with enough parts to make 20 Automatons with some metric weight of extra arms and heads left over. There are 5 bodies per sprue- I shall present them now in the build order. I meant to make this whole batch as simple worker guys, but then I decided a couple gun guys would be good too.

First guy got a claw and a normal cyber arm. During painting, he helped decide the unifying colors for this batch, the light blue and yellow.

Our second guy was the only one to get some modification to one of the arms. He may have been inspired by a cartoon robot named Clamps, because there was a matching pair of arms with clams. At the spaceport you need to have a certain number of servitors with the ability to carry heavy loads. The right arm clamp was off to the right, so I snipped that off and put it in place of a cyber hand arm. This made his right arm a little shorter, but that's okay.

Thirdly is our last worker type of guy. He got a drill hand and a regular cyber hand. One thing that is not as awesome as I expected with the kit is that most of the plain cyber hands are positioned to pair up with the gun arms to support the gun either on the top or bottom. For some reason he may be my favorite of this batch.

The first of the gun servitors got a helmet and a claw. I think I like the gun arms to not need to be supported. During the painting part, this guy was the one who first got the sort of rusty color for his knees and upper legs. I really like how that rusty color looks.

Finally, we've got the more compact gun for this gun servitor. I think his colors make him look more like an official servitor figure.

A size comparison with a Trenchcoat Ganger from Heresy Miniatures and a Primaris Marine. As with most of the other Stargrave people, they are shorter than most other 28-ishMM miniatures, but that's really not a problem for me. I kinda like them.

Now that I'm familiar with the parts available I think I'm ready to venture into my wider pile of sprues. Next will probably be a crossover with some other plastic kits using parts left on this first sprue.
