Graveyard Project - Part 4 Mostly Headstones
The main theme for this update to the Graveyard Project is headstones.
The multiple headstones from one of the Reaper Bones Kickstarters offered a puzzle to be solved when I was starting this project. Should they all be based individually? Maybe all on one base for a larger piece of rough terrain? The solution I decided on was to make several smaller bases of a few headstones that could be arranged in several ways.
But first, the last two Miniature Building Authority graves. I don't know why I really like the first one with the big rock, it's just cool.
This smallest of headstone bases has a simple orb and a fancy headstone.
Next up are a couple of bases with 3 headstones each. The one above uses non-Reaper headstones from GW plastic sets and a resin one from a Kickstarter for a ton of resin skulls by RBJ Games. Incidentally, I'm running low on the skulls from that Kicktarter.
This longer 4 stone base uses mostly Reaper Bones, except for the one wit the harped cherub. I picked up the little guy in the earliest years of this century for a few cents, planning to use it for something eventually. Once I started assembling the bulk of the bits for this project, I knew the little guy's time had come. I removed the skull and crossbones from a GW headstone and pinned the cherub as best I could (it's a really hard metal) and I employed the superglue and baking soda trick to make sure that he would stay in place. The tip of his right wing is where the loop for a chain was, so I chopped that off and it looks a little like there's been a horrible accident. This base also got what might be favorite of the headstones, the weeping lady. It had to be painted blueish.
The last of the headstone bases is this large skull monument with a couple of gargoyles alongside. It seemed fitting for an evildoer and his guardians.
Finally, a non-headstone bit, the Pillar of Evil. It's got three sides to it and the whole thing was simply drybrushed with a mix if red-brown and grey up to a brighter pinkish mixed with the base colors.
I think the graveyard is coming together fairly well. I just need to get some big slabs for everything to sit on and finish up the last couple handfuls of pieces...
