An Old School Realm of Chaos Slaanesh Warband
Some guy in Alaska let me know about his plans for an Old School type of infrequent campaign using the original Realms of Chaos books and the original Rogue Trader rules and a few of the supplements. This sounded like a fun idea (I had rolled up a fantasy chaos warband for fun a week or so before this) and I hopped on a video call to roll up a Slananeshi Warband.
The champion I got was an Adeptus Arbites with a sword, bolt pistol, and hand flamer. He also got a headless Power Familiar. His mutation was Bestial Face, I had no idea what I would use, but then I came across a Reaper Bones space dinosaur guy who came without a tail (their customer service replaced him, so I didn't feel bad about chopping off his head). He has since been named "Trysera Kopp" because that seemed pretty appropriate.
I was originally going to use a Judge Dredd City Defense figure, but then I came across a few Shadowkesh alien figure from Dreamforge Games. The feet reminded me of some old Slaanesh artwork with hoof-like feet. Plus his flowing coat looked cool and has the area to maybe do a little fancy design. The arms came from the Genestealer Cultists, the nicest kit that I really need to raid more often.
His headless familiar is some bendy plastic thing I found in my bits box. I decided to give her a part of the Shadowkesh whip in place of her head. We'll see how she paints up.
Next was a roll for the first unit- 9 Chaos Squats with lasguns. I have some great not-squats from the Skull and Crown Space Scrappers Kickstarter, but those just didn't fit what I had in mind. I've also got a few of the ancient GW plastic multi-prt Squats, but not enough for the full unit an they're almost fully painted. What I'm planning on is getting some fo the Wargames Atlantic "Einherjar" and doing a little to them to make some acceptable Chaos Squats.
Finally, for the second unit, I rolled up a simple Chaos Space Marine. He got a hallucinogen grenade, a bolter, and and a melta gun. I've decided to name him "B'noh Bo" and the purity seals on the Scibor Marine are not purity seals, rather they are his erotic poetry that is not very good, explaining why he has not yet been favored by Slaanesh. I've magnetized the base and the stand-in melta gun so he can give it away to one of the Chaos Squats.
His right arm is from a Space Wolf set. His left arm is a bit from Kromlech or Maxmini, I'm not certain. The left shoulderpad is from an olde plastic Chaos warrior. His head is from one of the Blackstone Fortress Chaos Marines. I decided he doesn't need a Chaos Marine Backpack because I think it would ruin his look. Minds may be changed eventually.
Each warband in Alex's infrequent campaign needs to have a couple of objective markers/baggage train/loot piles made. So far, I've started on 3 of them. First was a warband standard.
Next, I found some bits for a loot pile.
And thirdly, I couldn't resist making a shrine to Slaanesh in the form of "Our Martyred Voluptuary." The little statue is an old lead figure from Grenadier or Ral Partha. The braziers and candles are some 3d-prints.
Bonus figures!? I've got a lot of fancy females that seemed like they would fit nicely as camp followers. I've wanted to paint up the Reaper dancer and I've got a number of sexy Basti chicks from Crocodile Games.
There's greenstuff needed on a couple of the figures. I also need to get some of the Einherjar, but there's not a big rush. It may be quite a while before I can play an actual game.
