Twinday 2024 - Rogue Trader Adventurers
Another year, another Twinday set of minis painted. Separated by 20-some years, my niece and I were born on the same day at the same time, so we're twins. It's science.
This time I thought it would be cool to paint a couple of Rogue Trader minis I originally painted in the late '80s or early '90s and recently stripped. I also decided to put them on some modern fancy bases.
This penal trooper was the second version of the figure I had painted. I tried a metallic skin paintjob that was pretty avant-garde but also really bad. He was stripped a couple of years ago and dropped into a box with other waiting miniatures. Here we have the newly repainted version with my original version of the mini, on a hex base!
I wanted him to be sort of like the original, except with red boots instead of the fancy alien green leather. I painted the Twinday miniatures at the same time, so they share a few colors that help tie them together. I especially like the aqua-blue on his eye shield thingy.
This mohawk girl was originally painted pretty simply. At the time, I don't think I realized her left leg was cybernetic!
This time, i think i did the sculpt a little more justice. I wanted to incorporate my favorite aqua-blue while keeping a little of the original paintjob colors. I like the stripes on her boots that I think I originally totally missed. Her mohawk came out much better than the original version. I really love how this brighter version turned out.
I knew modern miniatures were bigger than these ancient figures, but seeing them in a lineup is shocking, though the Victoria Miniatures Highlander isn't too much bigger.
